Hastings & Prince Edward Counties Health Unit has several resources to assist with quitting smoking:

The “Tobacco Talk” Line

For information, support and resources to quit smoking call and speak with a trained public health promoter or public health nurse. Call (613) 966-5513 ext. 600 or if long distance call toll-free 1-800-267-2803 ext. 600. TTY 613-966-3036, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Free quit smoking kits are available for adults, pregnant women and youth at any of our five health unit offices.
The kits contain a self-help quit smoking guide, practical tools, fact sheets, activities and tips to help with quitting smoking. Just stop in and pick one up. Kits are also now available online, see and click below on the Online Tobacco Information Form.

Quinte Quitters Support Group

Meets at the Belleville office of the Health Unit office on the third Thursday of every month (excluding the month December) between 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary, just drop in to receive support and help to quit smoking.

Please note: Starting in October 2010 the Quinte Quitters Support Group will be transitioned into the We Can Quit Initiative, a one-on-one counseling service for adult smokers which includes subsidized Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) for 10 weeks.

Quit Classes

A free evening quit seminar is held every January and classes are also available throughout the year if demand warrants but needs a minimum of 10 participants.
