The Hastings and Prince Edward Counties Health Unit offers a variety of clinical services including , immunization, travel, sexual health and TB testing clinics.

The Immunization clinics play a vital role in promoting vaccinations among our residents. The Health Unit provides immunization to the community, distributes publicly funded vaccines to family doctors, assesses immunization records of students, and disseminates immunization information to parents, doctors, schools and the general public.

The Travel Immunization clinics offer a variety of services that will help you prepare for a healthy and safe trip to any overseas destination. Our specially trained nurses will provide you and your children advice about required and recommended vaccinations and medications, as well as other tips on how to stay healthy while you are away. We are designated as a Yellow Fever Centre by the government of Canada, our clinic issues an official Yellow Fever Certificate as a proof of immunization so you can obtain your travel visa and/or pass through customs/immigration without problems.

Sexual Health clinical services include; free pregnancy testing, pregnancy options counseling, low cost birth control, free emergency contraception, Sexually Transmitted Infection testing and treatment,. All services are confidential. In addition to clinical services, Public Health Nurses are available to provide educational presentations to your community group or class on a variety of healthy sexuality topics. Sexual Health clinic tours are also available for high school classes.

TB testing is available in many of health unit offices. A TB skin test will show whether someone has been exposed to TB germs. TB skins tests are done for the following reasons: you are a contact of a person who has infectious TB disease, it is a requirement of employment or volunteering, it is a requirement for an educational program or to determine past exposure as part of a medical assessment.
