What is it?

Ignite! (formerly The Hastings and Prince Edward Counties Physical Activity Network) has compiled a directory of many of the physical activity opportunities available throughout the two counties. It's designed to help raise awareness about some of the local sports and activities available as a way to reach physical activity guidelines.

Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines exist for all age groups and recommend minimum amounts of physical activity to aim for to achieve health benefits. For example, the guidelines for adults and older adults recommends accumulating a minimum of 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity a week to achieve health benefits.

The directory also contains information on financial assistance that is available to families to help them access recreational activities.

Ignite!
is a group of agencies and individuals interested in promoting physical activity in Hastings and Prince Edward counties. Membership is open to anyone with a personal or professional interest in promoting an active lifestyle. Contact Ignite! through the Health Unit’s Healthy Life Line at 613-966-5513 ext 610 for more information.
