Personal services settings include any setting that offers aesthetic services such as body 
piercing, tattooing, nail care, hair removal and hairdressing.
Public Health Inspectors
routinely inspect personal services settings throughout Hastings and Prince Edward
counties to protect the public by minimizing the risk, for clients and workers, of acquiring
infections during the delivery of personal services. Their role is to provide guidance on
infection prevention and control according to the requirements and recommendations
described in the Infection Prevention and Control Best Practices for Personal Services
Settings (Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, January 2009), see link below.
